Getting Cosy
Check Your Inbox
If you’ve subscribed and you’re not seeing emails coming through on the expected days, please check your spam/junk folder. You can then flag the email as ‘not spam’ so future emails land in your inbox. Alternatively it may have been filed under ‘promotions’ or something similar.
Get The App
If your inbox is already overflowing, and you don’t want to lose The Poetry Nook within the flood, you could download the Substack App and choose to receive your emails in the app instead.
This will also allow you to listen to any audio or video connected with the newsletters, join in Chat threads, as well as a great way to discover other Substack writers through Notes.
The Nook
On The Window Seat: Prompt Poetry (Thursdays)
Every Thursday I send out a prompt for us all to use to inspire creativity, whether in poetry form or another form. I will include my favourite response to the prompt the following week. These posts will be free to read for up to 3 months before going into the archive.
On The Shelf: The Poetic Periodical (Mondays)
Every Monday I send out one of my poems to paid subscribers. These are primarily independent poems. However I hope to include series within this as well.
On The Wall: On The Wall (Monthly)
Once a month you’ll receive a poetry recommendation newsletter. There will be 3 recommendations: 1 Substack Poet, 1 non-Substack Poet, and a third poetry related thing, such as a book, workshop or event.
On The Bulletin Board: The Bulletin Board (Monthly)
Once a month I gather the latest news and announcement from the poets of Substack and share them with you.
On The Cushion: The Metaphorical Bards (Monthly)
Once a month I share a poem to discuss in book club fashion with paid subscribers.
On The Window: In The Spotlight - (Quarterly)
Once a quarter I will highlight five of my favourite poems shared in the last quarter and remove the paywall for all to read and get a further taste of my poetry.
Under The Seat: The Creative Nook (Ad-hoc)
My creativity does not start and end with poetry. It ebbs and flows through several outlets, and here I shall share the results of some of those other outlets with paid subscribers.
Pick ‘n’ Mix
You can pick and and choose which newsletter you want to receive by following these three simple steps.
Archive
3 months after publication date, each post will go into an archive. Paid subscribers will have access to the archive.
How You Can Help
Recommend and Share
Sharing a poem that you think will resonate with someone you know, is one of many ways you can help support me, and give something thoughtful to someone you love (or don’t!).
Comments and Community
Sharing your thoughts on a poem, response to prompts or joining in discussions is a fantastic way to support the poetry I’m sharing. It definitely encourages me to keep going. I’m also trying to provide opportunities to build community amongst my readers.
Paid Subscriptions and Gifting Subscriptions
If you are able, becoming a paid subscriber or gifting a paid subscription is a wonderful way to show support for my poetry. In return you have full access to The Poetry Nook and a growing body of work.
